Depicted in the pages of this cruise book is the pictorial saga of the Navy's finest in action, at work, and at play. In years hence, it will be with special pride and feeling as each of us peruses the pages of this book, happily recalling the pleasant, inspiring, and loyal friendships--individual and collective--which existed. For my part, I shall always be able to say, with utmost sincerity and conviction, that I was intensely proud to have been the Commanding Officer of the finest ship, manned by the finest officers and men, in the entire United States Navy.
