ENGINEERING OFFICER
LT DANIEL J. CALLAHAN
Lieutenant Daniel J. Callahan was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1970 he received his commission through the United States Naval Academy.
His first assignment lasted four years onboard USS FOX (DDG-33) where he served as Missile Ordnance Officer, Missile Systems Officer, Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, Assistant Weapons Officer and First Lieutenant. After leaving the FOX, he was assigned to the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned his Masters Degree in Physics.
He then served as a staff member for Destroyer Squadron TWENTY-EIGHT in Newport, Rhode Island prior to his appointment to Surface Warfare Officer's School where he attended the Department Head Course in Engineering. After graduating in 1977 he reported onboard USS RICHARD
S. EDWARDS (DD-950) to assume the duties as Engineering Officer.
